Introduction: St. Xavier's School is run by Society of Jesus (also knows as Jesuits). The Society of Jesus is a world-wide religious organization of the Catholic Church, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola (Spain) in 1545 A.D. One of his companions, St. Francis Xavier came to India in 1542 A.D. Since then the Jesuits have been responsible for the establishment of some of the best known schools, colleges and universities in India and in 124 countries of the world,

In India Jesuits run 181 schools. 33 colleges, 18 technical schools and 5 Business Management Schools, educating about 2.50,000 students. In the North East they manage 32 schools spread over 5 states, educating about 11,000 students.

These institutions are run by the generous help and support of numerous friends and benefactors of Jesuits and the Catholic Church. But their services are offered to all people, irrespective of religion, caste, creed, language or tribe, especially in the rural areas, among the economically, socially disadvantaged people of our land. St. Xavier's School is one such effort of the Catholic Church in the service of the people of Kokrajhar District.

 The Founder of the Society of Jesus: St. Ignatius, the founder ofthe Society of Jesus, was born at Loyola, in the Basque region of northern Spain in 1491. He was a noble-man, a knight. in the service of the king of Spain, He received a severe leg injury in a battle against the French at Pamplona in 1521. This was how God entered his life. For many months he was bedridden till his leg was healed. He spent his time reading books of chivalry, and then, for want of other books, he read the lives of saints and the life of Jesus. He felt great consolation and joy reading the latter, and sadness and dryness whilst reading the former. He realized the emptiness of his life and resolved to follow Jesus in a most radical way, He set out on his pilgrimage in search of God.

EXPECTATIONS

1. ADMISSION:

All admissions depend on availability of seats. In addition to the rules set by the Education Department of Assam, the school lays down the following regulations.

 1.1 Every Candidate for admission should be brought to the school by the parents.

 1.2 All admission are done only through an application form made available at the School office during the time of admission.

 1.3 In case of admission to the nursery classes, the Birth Certificate should be attached to the application form. For students corning from other schools, the Marks card should accompany their application form.

 1.4 Failed students from other schools need not apply.

 1.5 Students who once leave the school are generally not re- admitted.

 1.6 Insincerity and wrong information in the admission form or procedure will result in cancellation
